Oh Hyun-kyu has fallen out of favor with the national team.
Hwang Sun-hong’s men’s national soccer team will take on Thailand at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Nov. 21 in the second Asian qualifier for the 2026 North and Central American World Cup. South Korea and Thailand will play a return match on June 26 in Bangkok.
The Korea Football Association announced the 23-man roster for the match on Nov. 11. Notable among the roster is the inclusion of K League scoring leader Lee Min-kyu as a forward. This makes him the oldest rookie to make the national team. He will be competing with Cho Kyu-sung. Oh Hyun-kyu, Klinsmann’s first choice, was the first to be eliminated.
His recent form makes sense. Oh has five goals in 20 games this season. However, he has yet to score a goal in 2024. Celtic have an unstoppable striker in Kyogo Furuhashi. It’s not easy for Oh to win the starting role. Although Oh has played 20 games, he has only made three starts.
“Last season, Furuhashi scored 34 goals in 50 games to win the Scottish League’s top scorer and MVP honors, winning the triple crown. This season, he has slowed down a bit, scoring just 14 goals in 39 games.”
While Furuhashi is still putting in good performances, he hasn’t been quite as dominant as he was last season, but that hasn’t stopped Oh from stepping into the gap. At Celtic, Furuhashi is still a dominant presence.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said: “Furuhashi’s movement is still razor sharp. The problem is his chemistry with the other 토토 players.” With a new manager, the tactics have changed and the players are reportedly confused.
Hwang Sun-hong, a former South Korean national team striker and legend, started the in-form In Jong-kyu first. It was an obvious choice.
